The Settlers II: Coop
The Settlers II campaigns together: many players, one tribe — on one TV or over the internet.
Warpzone support coming
A fork of Return To The Roots in which several players run one tribe together, locally with controllers or online, with a controller-friendly front end and a Steam Deck installer. Linux and Windows.
Warpzone adds rooms without port forwarding, and a mod archive for maps, scenarios and campaigns.
You need: the original The Settlers II data (GOG installer or CD) — the installer extracts it

- "Play online" → Internet now opens a full-screen page: log in, see the list of open games and chat.
- Hosting an online game (direct, local network or Internet) now starts from the same full-screen campaign, map and save pages as a local game; a campaign hosted online lets friends join your tribe as co-players.
- While connecting, the game shows a full-screen progress page (also while the map is sent); B or Abort cancels it and returns to the form with everything you typed still there.
- Ordinary maps started from the new menus now open the full-screen party page too: every player who joined gets a tribe of their own, or you all play one tribe together (switch it on the host's card or under Rules). If more players joined than the map has tribes, you play one tribe together automatically.
- "Rules" on the party page sets goals, starting goods, exploration, speed, the computer players (easy, medium, hard or none), team options and the add-ons, with the controller or the mouse.

- "Play online" on the start screen now opens full-screen pages: join a game by address (with an on-screen keyboard for controllers), or pick a game in your local network from a list that updates by itself.
- Loading a save from the new menus now opens the full-screen party page too: everyone who joined plays the saved tribe together, and the other tribes keep playing. A tribe a co-player played on its own in splitscreen, or a player who is no longer there, is taken over by the computer.

- Starting a campaign or scenario from the new menus now opens a full-screen party page: one big card per player, everyone who joined on the title screen is already seated, more controllers join with A on a free card and leave again with B. The host starts the game with Start.
- The list under "Load game" now shows a small map picture of the selected save: your land, buildings and roads as you saw them when saving, with unexplored ground hidden. Older saves show "No preview stored".
